It’s official!!

KelsieI’m a god mother!!  My little Kelsie was born at 10:21 last night and she is absolutely gorgeous!!  Kelley had to have a c-section and was a little out of it but, the baby is here and they are both doing well!!  It was sooo cool to be one of the first people to hold her.  She is so tiny!!  She weighed 7 lbs 9 oz but was 21.5 inches long!!!!!!!!!  She’s a cute little girl!  Here is a picture to tide everyone over until I get some more up!  It’s probably my favorite one that I took!

Alrighty…

So, I don’t know how many of you are fans of SNL but I just thought this skit was priceless!! Although I am not a Clinton supporter…it makes me laugh. Warning if you are offended by “harsh language” then don’t watch it…and if you do watch it and get offended don’t complain because I totally warned you.

Aunt Bethany

Well, I am still waiting for the beautiful Kelsie to be born, and today I actually got to see some of her ultra sound pictures. They were adorable!! You can see her face and her cute little nose!! She is six days late and Kelley is only 1 cm dialated…if Kelsie is not born by Wednesday they will induce labor so she should be here by the end of the week. To add to that excitement, my brother and sister in law had their 12-13 appointment and were able to hear the heartbeat. Being the amazing people they are they recorded it for the family to hear!

So there it is. You can imagine my excitement as all the babies are doing well and are healthy!! I can’t wait until my niece or nephew is here to hold and cuddle it! I hope you are all doing well!! Just thought I’d give you an update!

Really Obama, REALLY

Barack Obama you are pathetic….absolutely PATHETIC!

Write your own speech, and quit taking your “friends” words.

Ugh…Politics…

I really have never been one to care about Politics, not even the tiniest bit. When it came down to me voting for President, I talked to my friends in the military, and asked them who they would want me to vote for, and then when I went I voted for who they thought would be the best. I hate politicians, I hate hearing about them, I hate hearing about everything, but then today, after finding out that Obama plagiarized Deval Patrick’s speech. I was disturbed. Not because I liked Obama, and not because I wanted him to be the next president, I was disturbed because as a journalism student, and a journalist in my head at least right now, it made me absolutely sick.

That was someone else’s work, and the fact that he stole his words, is ridiculous. Ironically Obama’s speech was called, “Words Matter” and Patrick’s speech was called “Just Words”. You can read more about the similarities here. I hope knowing that Obama plagiarized shows that the man can NOT be trusted. Stealing someone’s words is the same as going into their house and taking their belongings. Oddly enough Obama’s campaign is not putting out a statement, however they did have Patrick call the New York Times to issue this statement:

“Senator Obama and I are long-time friends and allies. We often share ideas about politics, policy and language,” Patrick said in the statement. “The argument in question, on the value of words in the public square, is one about which he and I have spoken frequently before. Given the recent attacks from Senator Clinton, I applaud him responding in just the way he did.”

CNN.com

Isn’t it interesting that they had Patrick issue the statement himself, and he himself brushed it off. It’s ridiculous, I don’t care if you are friends with the man he stole YOUR WORDS. They’re not, “JUST WORDS” they are your work, your thoughts, your property.

To have a Presidential Candidate plagiarize is ridiculous, it would have been so simple for Obama to say, “My good friend said…” or “In the words of…” it doesn’t have to be stealing give credit where credit is due.

That’s my rant on politics. I am planning on getting involved now and researching the candidates and their opinions more in depth. It’s amazing what one little thing can do to wake someone up.

By the way if you want to see the video of Patrick and Obama’s speeches here is the video. Also, a big thanks to PerezHilton for pointing this out, to everyone…love him or hate him…he’s always got the scoop ;) Read more »

Random thoughts.

Well, it’s been a crazy few weeks.  School is going great, and I am just having a great time.  My god daughter is due on Tuesday and I am waiting as patiently as possible for her arrival.  And, then about three weeks ago I found out that two of my old roomies are pregnant also.  And, well, my brother and sister in law are expecting also.  Pretty crazy.  It’s funny, the more I am seeing people get pregnant and expand their family the more I’m like…you know…I am happy for them but that’s not what I want right now.

School is making me realize I just want to finish and get on with my career, and also, be able to travel around and only focus on work.  I couldn’t imagine leaving my husband and kids at home with the traveling I plan on doing…eventually.  *Unfortunately journalism is one of those fields where you have to work your way up so it may take a little while*

I am really happy with the way things are going right now, I don’t think I would change anything.  Eyes are on the prize…and I can’t wait to graduate and get my career going!!!!!!

Just when I thought I couldn’t be happier…

Well, with the arrival of my god daughter looming, I have been focusing on school and of course checking in on my best friend to make sure she and Kelsie are doing ok…alright I check in on Kyle too. I have been genuinely happy for the first time in a long time. Yesterday, I skipped out on my workout with my mom to work on some homework. When shortly after she had left, she came back. I heard tears, and she said “I need a hug.” Who died was the first thought that entered my mind. She handed me a book and told me to read it. I was like what the heck is this? Here’s what it said:

Grandma,
I can’t wait to meet you!!

I thought I’d make a book to
tell you a little about me.
I will be your grandkid, the first in the family.
The Doctor says I’m growing big,

I’m over an inch long.
My Mom and Dad listened to my heart.
It’s beating very strong.

Soon you’ll get to hold
and cuddle me.
It will be in September
probably on day three.

You can read me stories
and spoil me to all ends
I can’t wait to meet you!
We’ll be the best of friends.

 Love,

Baby Porter

After I read that tears filled my eyes and I began to jump up and down. It was finally happening my brother and sister in law were going to have a baby!!!! Like you read the due date is September 3rd. They are 10 weeks along!! I am so so so happy. I immediately called my best friend and told her she was so happy and was sure to let her know that this wasn’t stealing Kelsie’s thunder…it just adds to it!!

Being the internet junkie that I am, and the curious girl that I am I immediately wanted to know what was going on with my little niece or nephew. Here’s what I found:

Your baby is now almost two inches (4.5 centimeters) tall and weighs 5 grams. It’s not much, but he is complete! In your belly sits a miniature person who in no way resembles the tadpole of a few weeks ago. You can recognize his little face and the eyelids are clearly visible. The vocal cords are forming and the inner ear and auricle have been formed, too. The first downy hairs are becoming visible. The process of ossification is in full progress; the fingertips are hardening and soon they will get miniscule nails.

A bit later the toes will follow, because the development of an embryo (and of a baby as well) takes place from top to bottom.

Although the gender already has been determined, you can’t see whether it will be a boy or girl yet. At this stage, the umbilical cord between the embryo and the wall of the uterus starts to function and a lot of work is done on creating the placenta. That’s because from now on your baby-to-be will grow rapidly and that’s only possible when he’s provided with a sufficient amount of nutrients via the placenta and the umbilical cord.

I can’t wait to be Aunt Bethany and to meet the little guy…or gal growing in Janell’s belly!! By the way…here’s hoping for a boy…although I will love it no matter what.  In case you are wondering what the baby looks like right now…here’s what was on the website.
