Just when I thought I couldn’t be happier…

Well, with the arrival of my god daughter looming, I have been focusing on school and of course checking in on my best friend to make sure she and Kelsie are doing ok…alright I check in on Kyle too. I have been genuinely happy for the first time in a long time. Yesterday, I skipped out on my workout with my mom to work on some homework. When shortly after she had left, she came back. I heard tears, and she said “I need a hug.” Who died was the first thought that entered my mind. She handed me a book and told me to read it. I was like what the heck is this? Here’s what it said:

Grandma,
I can’t wait to meet you!!

I thought I’d make a book to
tell you a little about me.
I will be your grandkid, the first in the family.
The Doctor says I’m growing big,

I’m over an inch long.
My Mom and Dad listened to my heart.
It’s beating very strong.

Soon you’ll get to hold
and cuddle me.
It will be in September
probably on day three.

You can read me stories
and spoil me to all ends
I can’t wait to meet you!
We’ll be the best of friends.

 Love,

Baby Porter

After I read that tears filled my eyes and I began to jump up and down. It was finally happening my brother and sister in law were going to have a baby!!!! Like you read the due date is September 3rd. They are 10 weeks along!! I am so so so happy. I immediately called my best friend and told her she was so happy and was sure to let her know that this wasn’t stealing Kelsie’s thunder…it just adds to it!!

Being the internet junkie that I am, and the curious girl that I am I immediately wanted to know what was going on with my little niece or nephew. Here’s what I found:

Your baby is now almost two inches (4.5 centimeters) tall and weighs 5 grams. It’s not much, but he is complete! In your belly sits a miniature person who in no way resembles the tadpole of a few weeks ago. You can recognize his little face and the eyelids are clearly visible. The vocal cords are forming and the inner ear and auricle have been formed, too. The first downy hairs are becoming visible. The process of ossification is in full progress; the fingertips are hardening and soon they will get miniscule nails.

A bit later the toes will follow, because the development of an embryo (and of a baby as well) takes place from top to bottom.

Although the gender already has been determined, you can’t see whether it will be a boy or girl yet. At this stage, the umbilical cord between the embryo and the wall of the uterus starts to function and a lot of work is done on creating the placenta. That’s because from now on your baby-to-be will grow rapidly and that’s only possible when he’s provided with a sufficient amount of nutrients via the placenta and the umbilical cord.

I can’t wait to be Aunt Bethany and to meet the little guy…or gal growing in Janell’s belly!! By the way…here’s hoping for a boy…although I will love it no matter what.  In case you are wondering what the baby looks like right now…here’s what was on the website.
