2 Down 99 To Go!

I got another one of my 101 accomplished today like a week ago. I couldn’t decide what organization to donate to.

#83. Get a Writers Notebook.

The main reason I wanted a Writer’s Notebook was to help me keep my ideas flowing, and so when I had time to write I could go through and see some of the ideas I had. It also helps me keep track of dreams that may be turned into books.{If you’re doing NaNoWriMo add me: BethanyM85}Anyway, I have decided to donate to The Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation. Something you may or may not know about me is that I am a huge hockey fan. The Blue Jackets are my team, so this makes sense. Here’s what they do according to their website:

The Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization that works in partnership with the National Hockey League club.

The Foundation is dedicated to using its unique resources to raise public awareness and financial support for essential and timely initiatives that represent our four recognized pillars of giving – pediatric cancer, children’s health & safety, education and the development of youth hockey. We do so by creating first-class fundraising events and special programs through partnerships forged with local charitable organizations. In conjunction with their staffs, volunteers, contributors and stakeholders, we work to ensure the successful execution of these events and programs. We also work with our players and coaches to identify causes and organizations in which they can lend their support.

The Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation offers a variety of programs in support of local non profit organizations. Serving Central Ohio communities in support of initiatives that are important to the fans who support our team has always been a priority for our organization. Thanks to the commitment of Blue Jackets players, their wives, the fans and the Columbus community, the Foundation has awarded over $2.3 million in grants to worthy central Ohio charities since it’s inception in 2000.

Since its inception the Foundation has…

  • Donated $2.3 million dollars to local charitable organizations
  • Raised over half a million in support of the fight against pediatric cancer
  • Opened the Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation Family Resource Center at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in March 2006
  • Provided 18,500 Blue Jackets sport helmets to keep local children safe during play
  • Created the Blue Jackets Book Jackets literacy incentive program that has seen Central Ohio students read over 10 million minutes
  • Facilitated over 300 annual appearances by Blue Jackets players and coaches in support of local organizations
